The first of two Slinger duels is in the books and it was an eventful day at the high-banked 1/4 mile.
Tristan Swanson led the field of twenty-three drivers following the day’s sole practice session (12.217) for the Father’s Day 50 Special. Brandon Reichenberger locked in the seventh fastest lap in practice (12.296). The top nine positions were separated by less than a tenth of a second following the fifty-minute session.
Up next for the Midwest Truck Series was single-truck qualifying, where Grant Griesbach claimed the fast-qualifier award, clocking in at 12.149. Thirty One Motorsports drivers Tristan Swanson and Brandon Reichenberger qualified P2 (Swanson-12.182) and P12 (Reichenberger-12.404). Reichenberger fought a terribly loose condition during his qualifying session, which placed him just outside the series’ invert for the main event start. Following the invert, Swanson started seventh behind a group of front-running trucks.
The Midwest Truck Series main event was an entertaining showcase for the fans in attendance, and a wild ride for the majority of the Midwest Truck Series field. Race winner Robbie Rucks started on the outside of the front row and jumped out to an early, commanding lead while the rest of the field battled door-to-door throughout the main event.
Following a couple of cautions midway through the event, the field regrouped for intense battles throughout the closing laps. When all was said and done, Robbie Rucks claimed his second career Midwest Truck Series victory. Thirty One Motorsports teammates Tristan Swanson and Brandon Reichenberger finished P5 and P6 on the day, leaving Slinger Speedway with a foundation to build on when the series returns for the Prelude to the Nationals in July.
Tristan Swanson extended his Midwest Truck Series points lead, and Brandon Reichenberger finishes round five trailing Eugene Gregorich III by a mere 21 points for the fifth overall position in the series standings.
